Palantir Technologies Inc. has experienced a meteoric rise after announcing its annual revenue forecast for 2025 that beat analysts' expectations. According to CEO Alex Karp, this growth is driven by "unbridled organic interest" in their AI software. The company expects revenue of around $3.75 billion and adjusted operating profit of $1.56 billion. Meanwhile, analyst expectations were lower, specifically $3.54 billion in revenue and $1.37 billion in operating profit.

Impressive results and growth

Palantir $PLTR, long known for its work with the defense sector, has also focused on artificial intelligence in recent years. The company's stock is up a whopping 340% in 2024, thanks to a growing interest in AI and an expanding customer base in both the commercial and government sectors.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the company achieved revenue of $827.5 million, a 36% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, analysts were expecting "only" $775.9 million. Earnings per share came in at 14 cents, while analysts were predicting 11 cents. This result caused Palantir's shares to rise 22% in pre-market trading on Tuesday, closing at a record $83.74.

Key cooperation with the government

Palantir maintains a strong partnership with the US government, as evidenced by a 45% increase in federal contract revenue, which reached $343 million. US commercial sales increased 64% to $214 million. The company also expects its US commercial revenue to grow 54% to $1.08 billion in 2025.

Future in defence and AI

In a letter to shareholders, Karp stressed that Palantir was entering a "new phase" and warned of the "technical lethargy" of other US companies that he said were not meeting US strategic needs.

The company currently supplies technology to all branches of the US military and works with US allies, including Ukraine and Israel. It recently extended its contract with the US military to $619 million through 2028 and extended its AI programs with the US Special Operations Command.

Cooperation with technology companies

Given Silicon Valley's growing interest in defense technology, Palantir is expanding its collaborations with other companies. The company has cemented a partnership with weapons manufacturer Anduril Industries Inc. and forged a new relationship with AI startup Anthropic, which focuses on developing large-scale language models for intelligence and defense operations. These moves confirm Palantir's efforts to build a new defense ecosystem that will be based primarily on software companies instead of traditional defense contractors.

The impact of the political scene on Palantir

Following the election of Donald Trump as US President, investors have begun to show increasing interest in Palantir's stock and its role in strengthening the US defence and industrial sectors.

Chief Technology Officer Shyam Sankar unveiled a plan to rebuild the US industrial base in October and frequently speaks before the US Congress to promote innovation in the defence sector. Sankar from the field. Sankar emphasized that competition in AI is a winner-take-all system and requires a nationwide effort that goes beyond the Department of Defense.

In response to global competition and security threats, Karp quoted Samuel Huntington, who argued that "the rise of the West has not been due to the superiority of its ideas, values, or religion, but rather to its superiority in organized violence." This position reflects Palantir's strategy to strengthen its position in defence technology.
