The Nvidia GTC (GPU Technology Conference) is an annual event eagerly anticipated by technology enthusiasts and professionals across the AI, robotics and quantum computing fields. Running from March 18-21, the 2025 conference will focus on new technologies, advanced chip development, and innovations in AI and quantum computing. What exactly can we expect from this prestigious event?

Innovations in chips and AI

One of the biggest expectations at GTC 2025 is the unveiling of new chips that Nvidia $NVDA will introduce to the world of AI and computing. The company's CEO, Jensen Huang, will unveil the new flagship AI chip - Blackwell Ultra - at the conference. This chip will be an improved version of last year's Blackwell model and will deliver a significant performance boost, helping to make AI models faster to train and run.

Nvidia will also focus on the future of its GPUs and server processors. Huang is expected to unveil Ruby, a next-generation GPU, as well as a new line of CPUs called Vera. The combination of these two superchips into a single unit, dubbed Vera Rubin, is set to replace the existing Grace Blackwell chip platform, which is currently the company's most powerful AI platform.

Advances in humanoid robotics and quantum technologies

Another important topic that Nvidia will focus on is the development of humanoid robotics. This direction is key for the company, as evidenced by last year's discussion of software innovations focused on robots that will be able to perform complex tasks in the real world. This year, Huang is expected to provide further details on Nvidia's plans for humanoid robots and their integration into everyday life.

Nvidia will also focus on quantum computing, which will be the first time the event will feature a special day, dubbed Quantum Day. A panel discussion between Huang and leaders from companies such as Alice & Bob, D-Wave, IonQ and others will offer a deeper look at the current state of quantum computing. Jensen Huang has previously stated that fully functional quantum computers are unlikely to be available for 15 to 30 years, which has sparked debate in the technology industry.

Challenges and future prospects

While Nvidia will showcase many innovations, it also faces several challenges that will be the topic of discussion at the conference. These include concerns about possible tariffs on semiconductors imported into the US and tighter export controls on GPUs going to China. In addition, competitors such as Chinese company DeepSeek, which trains AI models on less powerful chips, raise questions about the efficiency and return on investment in AI. However, CEO Jensen Huang counters these concerns, arguing that more powerful chips offer better performance and better answers in AI computing.
