SSE plc is a British energy company headquartered in Perth, Scotland. It was established in 1998 through the merger of Scottish Hydro-Electric and Southern Electric. Today, it is one of the leading energy providers in the UK and Ireland. The company focuses on the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, primarily from renewable sources, including onshore and offshore wind farms, hydroelectric plants, and solar power. It also operates gas infrastructure and provides energy services. In 2024, SSE reported revenues of £10.5 billion and employed approximately 13,900 people.
